6 colour plates and numerous smaller illustrations with the text, Mabel Dearmer’s illustrations are striking and colourful. Laurence Housman’s version of the Grimm’s fairy tale is told in verse. [44 pages]; there is some shadowing from the illustrations on the other side of some pages, some speckling and other marks, mainly at margins, closed edge-tears to 6 leaves. 252 x 200 mm [approx 10” x 8”] cloth spine, pictorial boards; corner tips worn, some grazing and marks but still a striking book, the combined effort of two very interesting and progressive-thinking people of their day. The book was first published in 1899 [but with no date], this copy has an inscription dated May 1913 and is an early or possibly first edition . There was a later issue with green cover and using the full title The Story of the Seven Young Goslings. London: Blackie & Son
