‘The Yellow Book: An Illustrated Quarterly. Volumes l - X111. 13 Volumes (Complete) ~ by Aubrey Beardsley (Ed) & others; pub by Elkin Mathews & John Lane, London & Copeland & Day, Boston 1894 - 1897. All vols bound in yellow buckram with black designs and title printed on front cover & spine - original designs by Beardsley; also index of each book is printed in black on back cover of each volume except vol13. Most vols seem to have some pps still uncut - more to the back of each book than the front part; most illustr seem to have their original tissues still intact. Covers of all the vols in reasonable condition have some marks on them - but yellow does show the marks of course.
Details & condition of each volume noted below - I would suggest you read the info as the condition of the various volumes can vary a lot.. Set £650. 8.8kg (also Journals)
Vol 1. 1894. A few pencil marks on inside pps, some foxing through book, sections tight in binding - basically in good condition.
Vol 11. 1894. No pencil marks - some foxing through book, sections tight in binding - basically in good condition.
Vol 111. 1894. Covers badly water stained and bent - as is the book (possibly crushed in the box?), spine is damaged; some damp has penetrated through parts of book; books is twisted, sections are tight in the binding; book is still easily readable.
Vol lV. 1895. Yellow covers quite clean, just bottom 2 corners slightly bent inwards; some foxing a front and back pps of book, there is a crack on the spine on the last section of book; some pps are uncut at back; book clean and in good condition.
Vol V 1895. Foxing on occasional pps through book, slight crack between pps 174/175, but sections are quite tight in binding; book generally clean and in good condition.
Vol Vl 1895. Some occasional foxing, book in good condition by and large; sections are tight in binding.
Vol Vll 1895. Covers are damp stained and damp has percolated into the book at front and more especially at back causing some damp stains; back end paper has piece missing; also foxing similar to other vols; sections are tight in binding and all pps are easily readable.
Vol Vlll 1896, Book is in poor condition, having quite a lot of damp marks & stains; latter part of book is worse than first part. There are a few cracks to spine between several sections, but all sections seem to be quite tight in the book, 99% of pps are easily readable.
Vol lX 1896. Covers water stained and slightly warped - as is contents; some contents are also slightly water stained, some occasional foxing on pps through book; all pps are easily readable.
Vol Xl 1896. Covers water stained and whole of book is quite warped; signs of damp stains on most pps, also some foxing through book; but all pps are easily readable.
Vol Xll 1897. Book in generally good condition; with some slight foxing more towards the beginning and end.
Vol Xlll 1897. Book is generally in good condition but with foxing on pps through the book.
