VALENTINO The Unforgotten ( A Presentation Copy)

Book Description
A wonderful "Collectors Copy" of the scarce First Edition with a presentation inscription by the author as follows... " To Mrs Effie M.Hengerer with best wishes and Kind regards Sincerely Roger C. Peterson Feb 23, 1930 " Peterson was well placed to write the book being custodian of the Mausoleum where Valentino now lies in Hollywood, and as he explains in the preface "The germ of my desire to write this book took life and grew from my amazement at the never ceasing parade of people seeking the Valentino crypt, when there are so few, comparatively, looking for the tombs of others who achieved greater and more sustained fame during their lives." The book includes excerpts from Valentino's diary and accounts of strange experiences at the crypt + details of his interaction with the original Lady in Black together with graphological and numerological analyses of Rudolph's personality; examples of fan mail that Valentino continued to receive (c/o the cemetery!) long after his death; etc. The book was reprinted in 2007, but the original is v. scarce and difficult to find in any condition particularly as here. 8vo 256pps with 14 pages of black & white illustration from photographs. An exceptional copy.
