Published by Englemann, Graf, Coindet & Co, London, 1828, 1st edition. Modern half calf binding with purple cloth boards. Gilt decoration to spine and to border edges. Gilt lettering to front board. Folio, 17.25ins x 13ins. Comprises title page, additional title page with vignette illustration, 10 full page plates.Plates were drawn by William Westall A.R.A. (1781-1850). He achieved fame as a landscape and figure painter on an exploratory voyage to Australia undertaken in 1801 under the command of Matthew Flinders. First title page has several old repairs. Bookplate of Michael Valentine Briton Riviere to front pastedown and his signature and address to front free endpaper. Rear board scratched and with a stain covering approx one inch square. Excellent plates in a G to VG binding
