Presentation copy from the author, inscribed: "Mr Malcolm Macmillan/ with the kind/ regards of the/ author 23.10.73." All edges uncut. Decorated boards, lettered in gilt on spine and front. Small neat bookseller's label on front endpaper. Small mark on front cover, covers slightly rubbed and edges dusty, otherwise an excellent copy of a rare title.
Dealer Notes
The presentation inscription may well be to Malcolm Macmillan, the son of Alexander Macmillan, who with his brother Daniel, founded the Macmillan Publishing Company in 1843. Malcolm Macmillan was to disappear while climbing Mount Olympus in 1889 with his friend Sir Arthur Hardinge and his body was never found.
