Book Description

Large paper copy of the first illustrated edition, limited to 150 copies in the U.K. [and 100 copies in America]. This delightful collection of poems, a celebration of childhood, written from the point of view of a child, is considered to be one of the most influential children's works of the 19th century. The collection includes some of Stevenson’s most famous poems, including 'The Land of Counterpane', 'My Shadow' and 'The Lamplighter'. This edition is copiously illustrated by over 100 charming pen and ink drawings by Charles Robinson (1870-1937). This was the first book illustrated by Robinson, who went on to illustrate many more children's books.
