Original blue cloth, gilt to spines and upper boards. Top edges gilt, lower edges untrimmed. Rubbing and wear to extremities. Small nick to spine and spotting to upper board of Vol. III. Upper hinge to Vol. I strained. Small hole to fep Vol. II. Ownership signature “Keene” and W. H. Smith subscription library bookplates to fep of each volume. Loosely inserted three newspaper clippings from 1903 “Admiral Keppel travelling in the East, has had his jewels, orders and money stolen by a Chinese boy” and “Death of Sir Harry Keppel, O.M. Father of the Navy” 1904, plus an undated clipping from c. 1903 illustrating Henry Keppel’s recipe for becoming a centenarian.
