Folio; xv,102p. Large Paper Limited Edition No 72/135 copies. 14 plates including 5 original etchings which are particularly beautiful and amongst his finest work, reminiscent of his Shoreham period. One of the etchings is entirely by Samuel Palmer, the other 4 having been started by him and finished by his son A.H.Palmer. Original vellum boards with gilt lettering to upper cover, now slightly darkened and rubbed. A G-VG copy, internally clean. A few newspaper cutting to the rear endpaper.
Dealer Notes
One of the greatest artists, Samuel Palmer began this translation around 1856 and worked on it for decades to accompany his own illustrations. This posthumous work was completed by his son A.H. Palmer.
