Illustrated by H. Albert Hochbaum. Journals of Nautalist and Physician John Richardson, member of the ill fated first Franklin expedition into the Arctic would come to be known as the Coppermine Expedition (1820-1822) which aimed to explore the northern coast of Canada by way of the Coppermine River. During the many tribulations and deprivations of the journey, Richardson kept his journal - which includes a record of the flora and fauna of north Canada and a detailed historical and scientific record of the expedition. Appendices includes: Bird Observations by John Richardson during the First Franklin Expedition; Mammal Observations by John Richardson during the First Franklin Expedition: Fish Collected by John Richardson during the First Franklin Expedition; Plants Named by and for John Richardson and John Richardson's Contribution to Lichenology.
