Paul Eipper was fascinated by the circus from childhood and as an adult travelled through Europe for twenty days with a circus to write this book. First published in his native German the previous year this is the British first edition translated by Frederic H Martens . It includes 47 superb ‘behind the scenes’ photographs adding greatly to his account. A snapshot of pre war Europe and Circus folk.

Nice clean copy with uncommon dustwrapper. The wrapper has minimal wear/ chipping to head and foot of spine and a couple of small closed tears but shows attractive design of a horse by ‘Wenck’ .
