4to, 17.5cm, [x],40 p., engraved title device of a woman’s head with a headdress of flowers & scallop shell with scrollwork, large initial letter with a letter N in front of an elephant, headpiece of a grotesque flanked by nymphs with foliage sprays. 19th c quarter morocco & cloth covered boards (two small worm holes to joints), banded spine with gilt lozenge decoration to bands, double gilt rule compartments, gilt title & date.
Only edition of this addendum to Giovanni De Vita’s dissertation on the religion of the Lombards published in his Thesauri Antiquitaum Beneventanarum, not present in the original work and forming a discussion of hagiography of the Italian saint Januarius, bishop of Benevento.
A very good copy (spot of moisture damage to last page with small hole and loss of several letters to last & penultimate leaves). Worldcat locates only the SBB-PK copy.
