Book is in French. 8vo – 5” x 8”, c364pp plus 5 plates in b&w and 1 extending map – 13 1/2” x 7 ¼”; bound in leather, spine has been refurbished with a red label with gilt lettering and 5 gilt rings, inside and back end papers are a dark blue paper, front and back boards are in leather and look as if they are from the original binding, there is a gilt pattern running round the edges of the front and back covers; the boards have a little wear with the corners worn, the top and side edges have some dark marks on as if someone has wanted to make them look as if they have been marbled; there is a small crack – c1” – on the top of the inside front endpaper, there is a minimum of foxing in the book; the binding is tight and there are no lose sections or pages, so in good condition apart from the items listed.
