Altick, Shows of London, chapter 10, ‘The panorama in Leicester Square’. The Panorama in London’s Leicester Square, under the management of Robert Burford, exhibited large 360o canvases, into the centre of which the audience could stand, with a handbook to the scene before them. This 1830 view of Quebec offers an introductory description of “The capital of Canada, and of the British possessions in North America”. The booklet, sold for use in the exhibition, also contains 36 descriptions keyed to buildings and other features shown on the panorama.
