Book Description

4to. Pictorial card wrappers. Covers a little age-tanned. A little scuffed to tail of spine. Corners slightly bumped. A near fine copy. *** First edition/first issue of the first published book of poetry by the Bard of Salford and punk legend John Cooper Clarke. For the most part, the book is made up of lyrics from his 1978 album Disguise in Love. Styled like a Telephone Directory with all the lyrics overlaid on pages listing the names Cooper or Clarke, and all of the addresses and phone numbers of these London '01' listings blacked-out with a pen. It also includes 22 black and white photographs by Kevin Cummins, Tom Sheehan and Paul Slattery.*** This is the first edition/first issue of JCC's book and should not be confused with the second issue, which was published the following year in an almost identical form to accompany his vinyl LP release Snap, Crackle & Bop. (The second printing does not have the title at top right of front cover and is stapled rather than glued.) Extremely scarce.
