Among the circle of young admirers who gathered round William Blake in his last years Samuel Palmer & Edward Calvert were most affected by the Master, and in Calvert's case his visionary works strongly influenced by the wood engravings of Blake. Calvert's published engravings which are all reproduced in this volume which were executed between 1827 & 1831. After this time he went on to produce only dreamy landscape paintings, mostly sentimental views of life in Arcady as imagined by a Victorian. Includes a Prefatory Note by Raymond Lister
