Dealer Notes
Twopeny, known best for his architectural writings, compiled this anthology of writings on religious and historical subjects at the request of Charlotte Howard, Duchess Dowager of Norfolk. The final chapter comprises Captain Richard Twopeny’s account of an attack by brigrands outside Smyrna in 1845 (presumably a relative of the compiler’s). This copy, which belonged to Charlotte Duches of Norfolk, was presented by her to her son-in-law Lord Foley.
