Published by Mitchell and Hughes, London, 1886, 1st edition. Two tone brown cloth binding, spine a lighter brown than the boards. Spine has 4 raised bands. Gilt lettering to spine and front board. Teg. Folio, 18ins x 12ins, 12pp, xxvi, 332pp plus 24 plates (one double page and one double page and folding), 8 maps and plans (one double page and one coloured), 3 double page pedigrees and 1 large folding pedigree. Also two illustrations within the text. Because some of the pages have multiple illustrations, the list of illustrations totals 43 items - all are present. In addition there is a plate depicting Lambert Larkin which is not listed. Old tape reinforcement to hinges. Tissue guard to frontis very creased. Raised bands to spine worn with small amounts of loss. Edge of front board worn. A G to G+ copy of a fairly scarce work. Nb heavy book (4kg pre-packing) please enquire for postage quote.
