This work was a follow-up to ‘Hints to Mothers’ published the previous year. Apart from the general hints, it contains a [2]pp piece on ‘Opthalmia Neonaturum’. Rule 4 states ‘ a little washed lard should be smeared along the edges of the eyelids occasionally, to prevent them from sticking’.
