On the title page the book is stated as 'Second edition, enlarged & greatly improved'. It is intended as a companion guide for interested travellers who are encouraged to visit this part of South Wales as a result of the recent opportunities afforded by the recent completion of railways & road improvements. In particular the author focusses on the local history, the architecture & the natural history.
