Book Description

Signed first edition and very uncommon already. Interesting selection of black and white photographs and detailed and useful index. Douglas Jardine was an England cricketer synonymous with the controversial ‘bodyline ’ tour of Australia in 1932-33 acknowledging the controversial bowling techniques he employed. After Australia he led the MCC in two tests against the West Indies and in 1933-34 to a tour of India where independence was still 14 years away and the team was warmly welcomed. “Jardine’s last tour” is a mix of cricket, game shooting, grand social occasions and emerging young cricketers . The tour consisted of 34 fixtures, 18 of which had first class status.
