Bound in original red cloth with gilt lettering to spine, in fine, unfaded condition. Marbled endpapers. 8vo. Text in fine condition, no inscriptions. Illustrated with 30 tissue guarded plates and a folding pedigree. The accompanying prospectus for the book states ‘The book is limited to 250 copies at £1-1-0 each’ The book contains extracts from his note books, Military interest, His new system of Shorthand, Theatre, His invention of the double Sextant for observing Lunar distances, origin of local words ans phrases, his plan for a suspension bridge exhibited at the Great Exhibition 1851. Scarce, interesting title.
