Interestingly this copy contains Manuscript critique notes on the poem, by Dr Wilkes, 1737. The same date as the First Edition was published. Handwritten in verse on the ffep.

Dr Richard Wilkes (1690-1760) was a Doctor of Physic, Antiquary and Gentleman. A member of an ancient family that had been seated at Willenhall for over 300 years. His heir was the Rev. Thomas Unett, whose son was Richard Wilkes Unett (1765-1815) Captain of His Majesty’s Royal Regiment of Artillery - His impressive armorial bookplate is on the paste down.
