Number 17 of 25 presentation copies from a limited edition of 525 copies. Grubby end papers. Includes a separate Appendix with additional letters consisting of 85 pages plus a genealogical table. Pages in the Appendix are creased with wear and small nicks at edges of cover. Includes a memoir of the life and times of Philip Dormer, fourth Earl of Chesterfield, together with a collection of letters offering a wealth of useful advice to his godson and successor.
