Dealer Notes
The story of Crippen’s murder of his wife is one of the more notorious stories of the early twentieth century, captivating the masses and leading to his arrest following a wireless message from the ship on which he was fleeing to Canada; the first criminal captured with the aid of the wireless telegraph.
The sheet prints both Crippen’s statement and that of his lover, Ethel le Neve, as well as four songs by James Lauri and one by H. Poulson. The song titles have cheery titles such as “The Naughty Doctor” sung to the tune of ‘Yip-i-addy-i-ay’, “Criuppen Adieu” to ‘Top o’the Moirning,’ “He Left You for Another” to ‘Nellie Dean’ and “Sentence on Dr. Crippen” to ‘Please Mr. Conductor.’
