Hardback. First edition thus. This was the first reissue of Thomas Bewick’s memoir since its only previous printing in 1862. Introduction by Selwyn Image. 61 illustrations from Bewick's own woodcuts including a frontis. xxxi,274pp. Red cloth with black titles to spine, ruled black border to upper board, black Bewick illustration to same. Cloth binding is clean and neat and the book is tight and square. Slightly softened to spine ends. Hint of scattered foxing to margins. Dust jacket is some what dust marked and has chips and small tears to edges with a larger chip to spine edge and onto the front.
