Three handsome volumes, illustrated in photo-gravure by EJ Sullivan, text reprinted from the 1911 edition. Bound by Riviere in contemporary tree calf, gilt, raised bands and morocco label to spines, very slight rubbing to edges of spines; all edges gilt marbled endpapers, gilt turn-ins. Titlepages printed in red and black with vignette. School prize inscription from Mayfield convent school awarded to Claudia Botzinger for “the Prize for the Head of the School awarded as a Perpetual Remembrace of Hilda Wilcocks, June 1928”. Edmund Joseph Sullivan (1869-1933) was a prolific book illustrator who blended the a high Victorian style with Art Deco not unlike Aubrey Beardsley. His many book embellishments include The Compleat Angler and The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam.
