This is a 1st US H/Bk edition of “The Art of Taxidermy” by John Rowley, chief of The Department of Taxidermy in The American Museum of Natural History etc, published by D Appleton & Co., New York in 1898. The book has 244 pages of text, and twenty full page plates and a further fifty-nine drawings in the text. The book has two previous owners details on the front end paper and several pencil prices, there are, however, no other marks or inscriptions in the book. The book was bound in green cloth which has faded and the titles on the cover and spine are in gold. The binding is tight with no loose pages but the corners and edges of the boards are bumped and worn. A good copy of a scarce book.
