This is a leather bound copy of “Universal Biography; containing a Copious Account, Critical and Historical, of the Life and Character, Labors and Actions of Eminent Persons, in all Ages and Countries, Conditions and Professions Arranged in Alphabetical Order. [Abridged from the Larger Work]” by J Lempriere D.D., printed for T Cadell and W Davies, in the Strand in 1808. The book is unpaginated so I have no idea how many pages there are. There is a gift inscription on the inside of the front board and a bookplate on the front end paper of Norman Gash, a former Professor at St Andrews University. There is some foxing to the end papers. The binding is tight but the front board is slightly weak and there is some small loss to the spine. The edges and corners of the boards are rubbed and bumped.
