The Ascent of Everest
Book Description
First Impression. 15x23cm blue boards with gilt titles to the spine, 30pp. Publisher’s original dust jacket, unclipped, showing 25/- at the bottom corner of the front flap. Signed by the author/expedition leader on a publisher’s bookplate and flatsigned underneath by the deputy leader, Charles Evans (Sir Robert Charles Evans). The boards are in near fine condition with firm, sharp and square corners showing hints of shelf wear the their tips. The titles are very bright and fresh and the spine head is firm, the spine foot a little turned in. The binding is very firm and square. Internally, there is a toned band due to acid migration, down the ffep, otherwise the pages are very clean. The dust jacket is in very good plus condition and is now protected in a removable clear jacket (not shown). It has a crease with two associated 0.5cm closed tears at the top of the spine, a light crease along the top edge of the front panel and a crease at the top of the rear panel at the fore edge corner. There is a small scuff near the centre of the spine and a couple of very spots on the front panel. Despite these minor issues, the jacket presents unusually well.
