Book Description

A good copy of the scarce First English Edition with the author's name misspelt to the title page. The novel was the basis of a famous "Lost" Silent film of 1914 with the same title and produced by Adolph Zukor. The story involves two young clergymen and their respective churches in an un-named American City. One, a tumbledown structure in the poorest part of town the other in the richest district and the lives of their parishioners. No ownership marks but an original photo portrait of two young men dated 1931 is attached to the paste down. 8vo 305pps + 3pp of adverts
