Volume one iv-496, (iv) index directions to binder errata. Vol two iv, 604 pages + 8 page index Vol 1 title dated 1799 issue 1(issue 2 dated 1798) to 12 September running head title each month (April, March, June and July undated. Coloured frontis and 16 hand colour plates of military costumes, 4 are in two states the duplicate with more background details. Also maps plans and plates some folding. Vol 2 title dated 1801, issue 13 October 1800 to issue 30 March 1801.17 hand-coloured uniform plates 4 being in 2 states although 1 duplicate laid down with the duplicate uncoloured. One of the colour plates is used as frontis. Also maps/ plans and plates some folding. Collates as plate list but no mention of duplicate plates. Book plates to end papers of George Arnold (bookplate, "one of the Gentlemen of his Majesties most Honorable Privy Chamber"); Terry family (bookplate) and Norman R Bobbin plate. Recent ½ tan calf over the original marbled covered boards. A very good set of a rare journal rarely found complete and more so with plates in 2 states. Intended to provide foreign or rare military information to the British army, along with regulations and facts on current conditions. Tooley 112
