A lovely near-fine copy of the scarce First Edition original publishers cloth and yellow coated endpapers Cr.8vo. xvi. 320pps Tissue guarded frontispiece portrait. Aspden was a journalist on the Nottingham Guardian and the Preston Herald where he became editor. Anthony Hewitson frequently mentions him in his Diaries [ Hobbs vol 1 [1865–1887]and states that in 1879 he was in a lunatic asylum. A short subscribers list includes several MPs including George Baden-Powell brother of Robert Baden Powell. Widely available in various digitised forms the original is scarce.
