“The Phenix No. 2.” “ Darlington 12mo. I - 1827.”
Book Description
NSTC lists 18 ‘Phoenix’ titles, one of which looks promising - an 1830 publication with a subtitle, Short Poems. This was published in Richmond (printed for the Author) in 1830.
Dealer Notes
Details about this item have proved to be elusive. Hunt’s Book Trade in Northumberland and Durham to 1860 list no-one in Paradise Row. Parson & White’s 1827 Durham and Northumberland Directory is similarly negative in its list of Academies and Schools. Perhaps Thos. Graham, music professor, Paradise-Row, in the general section of the Directory is a plausible inhabitant of the Academy but again we know nothing further of him.
