Large 8vo.[9½"x6"] xxiv 590pps inc publishers advertisement leaf and three plates. two of which are Hand Coloured Aquatints and one Engraving. Nicol was a Scottish Horticulturist employed on several estates in Scotland most notably Dalhousie Castle in Midlothian. He wrote several very practical books including "The Scotch Forcing and Kitchen Gardener" 1797 and the "Gardener's Kalender" [1810] This posthumous edition was edited by the nurseryman Edward Sang [1771-1862 father of the eminent mathematician]
