Lloyd Arnold Brown (1907-1966) began his career as a rare books dealer, later curator and librarian of various institutions notably curator of the William L. Clements Library of the University of Michigan and librarian of the Peabody Institute in Baltimore. An influential scholar in the fields of geography and cartography, he sought to increase public interest in and understanding of maps in the mid-20th century.
