Title in gilt to compartment two. Gilt decoration to other compartments. Double ruled gilt borders, front and rear. Elaborate gilt corner decorations front and rear. Gilt image of Windsor Castle to front board. Inner dentelles gilt. Bevelled edges. Aeg. 12.75ins x 10.5ins, iv, 176pp, iv, 176pp plus two additional illustrated title pages (with vignette illustrations), 2 maps and 13 tissue guarded plates (one double page size). Also very large number of illustrations within the text. Artists of the plates include T. Pyne, John Fullwood, David Law, Frederick Slocombe, J. McNeill Whistler, A. W. Callcot, Arthur Severn & N. Whittock. Occasional light foxing. Original spine was relaid by Stoakley's of Cambridge in 1994 (receipt included). They also fitted new headbands and new endpaper. A VG copy. Nb book weighs 3.6kg pre-packing - expensive to post overseas.
