The Walled City, Elspeth Huxley, Chatto and Windus& The Book Society, 1948, Signed First Edition, First Impression A novel set in northern Nigeria under British colonial administration in the period following World War I. The book has been signed by the author with no personal dedication. In very good condition the binding is straight and tight, the boards clean and the lettering on the spine bright. There is sunning to the top edge of the front board, the spine and the top edge of the rear board. The end papers and pages are free from tears and inscriptions. There is some foxing to the top edge and toning to the end papers. The unclipped dust jacket, protected in a clear, removable cover is in fair condition with loss to the corners. loss to the edge of the front cover, a small tear to the top edge of the front cover, a small tear to the bottom edge of the front cover, loss to the edge of the spine, loss to the top and bottom edges of the spine, loss and a tear to the top edge of the back cover and a faint mark to the bottom of the back cover. This is a rare find, especially being signed, making it an impressive addition to a library or a wonderful gift. Will be dispatched carefully wrapped in bubblewrap and a cardboard box.
