Book Description

Mayson's 3D Ordnance relief model of the Lake District measured [as described on the poster] 210 square feet and was quite an attraction and very useful for navigating / planning routes through the lakes. Mayson's Model of the English Lake District was created in 1875 as a visitor attraction in Keswick. The model was commissioned by photographer Henry Mayson and his brother Thomas, and was built by Raffaelle Monti and his team of sculptors using Ordnance survey maps. The scale of the poster suggests it may have been pasted up on billboards / railway station platforms? - this poster is worn as described but shows no evidence of having been used. each section measures approx 505mm x 760mm
