Book Description

COX, Eileen Three drypoint etchings and a watercolour of African scenes, signed by Eileen Cox; a tribal gathering at night, a seated male in a white robe, and a beautiful etching entitle “Fanti Girl”, and a watercolour of a large building, possibly a fort. The three etchings are presented in original loose mounts but can easily be removed for remounting if required. The Fanti ( or Fante) people are from the Mankessim region in central Ghana. The etchings had been sent to H.O.Ventress, Town Council Offices, Sekondi ( Ghana), and were part of an archive of his possessions. Ventress apparently lived and worked in Sekondi in the 1920’s . We have not been able to trace Eileen Cox as an artist in U.K. We have other travel related items and maps in our stock on this site.
