Complete in 3 volumes. Bound in a leather wallet style format, with each volume closing with a leather tab so that the books might fit into the pocket of a traveller. Size 19 by 13 cm. With 120 maps and plans of cities. 1579 pages plus indexes and over 250 pages of splendid contemporary advertising for hotels, ferries, railways etc. Each book has a pocket section inside the rear endpapers that contains folding maps. With the bookplates and stamp of Edward Douty, the original owner. Douty was a Cambridge academic, surgeon and traveller. Sympathetically restored and in VG condition, though only part of the original spines remain. These have been relaid on new red leather backs.
