Ian Hamilton's March, Winston S. Churchill, 1900, Longmans, First Edition One of Churchill's earliest works. Having resigned his commission in the British Army he arranged to be sent to Africa as a correspondent for The Morning Post reporting the Second Boer War. The book covers Hamilton's progress from Bloemfontein to Pretoria and numerous sizeable conflicts with Boer forces along the way. In very good condition the binding is straight and tight, boards marked in parts with gilt lettering bright, creasing to top and bottom of the spine, the endpapers and pages are clean and free from marks, tears and inscriptions. Tissue guard covering frontispiece in place. Contains ten maps including one extendable to the rear, still attached and in perfect condition. 32 page publisher's catalogue to the rear A scarce volume in very good condition. Will be dispatched by courier, fully insured and very well packaged in bubblewrap and a cardboard box.
