Book Description

The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole aged 13 3/4, Sue Townsend, Methuen, First Editions, First Impressions The first book in the Adrian Mole series, named by the BBC News on its list of the 100 most influential novels and adapted by radio, TV and stage, this story, written in a diary style, focuses on the worries and regrets of a teenager who believes himself to be an intellectual. A phenomena of the 1980s, maybe not quite approaching Harry Potter proportions, but it's popularity cut across all age groups and it seemed everyone had read the book at some point. Set in 1981 and 1982 amongst the referenced the historic events of The Falklands War, the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana as well as the birth of Prince William. The book is illustrated by Caroline Holden. In near fine condition, the binding is straight and tight, the boards clean and the lettering on the spine bright. The end papers and pages are free from tears or inscriptions. There is some foxing to the edges. The unclipped dust jacket, protected in a clear, removable cover is in near fine condition with no issues. There is a small round sticker placed over the price on the return flap. Increasingly extremely rare to find as a first edition first impression especially in such superb condition. Will be dispatched carefully wrapped in bubblewrap and a cardboard box
