‘John Halifax, Gentleman’~ by Mrs Dinah Maria Craik (nee Mulock); pub by Hurst and Blackett Publishers, London 1856; 1st Edition; 3 volumes- Triple Decker; rebound in ¾ dark brown calf with 5 mock gilt bands and title & volume no in gilt on spine, also brown marbled front & back covers and white inside front & back end pages; and with top & bottom silk head bands. Small 8vo - 5” x 7 ½”. Vol 1 - 322pps + title page, few small tears on several pps - text all still there when torn. Vol 11 - 332pps no title pp (was there one?), few small tears on several pps. Vol 111 - 312pps but pps 1&2 are missing as also title pp - so text starts on p3. Some very occasional pencil notes and foxing and browning on many pps. Each vol has a book plate attached to the inside cover. Books tight in binding and generally in good condition apart from comments above. Weighs 1.35kg
