Dealer Notes
" There are many things which every dancer should know besides dancing; but, if he or she is to win success in ballet, it is essential to study the art of “ Mime.” "
"The purpose of the book is simply to suggest certain lines on which any young dancer might advantageously think, in order to facilitate the cooperation of teacher and learner in studying the art of “ mime.”"
A charming book from 1925, written by Mark Perugini and published by the Dancing Times in London. It is concerned with — as the title suggests — the art of mime, defined here as "acting without words", as opposed to the rather more narrow understanding that most people have of it today. In form it is a little like a manual, offering young and aspiring actors advice on progressing in their training and adding the skill of mime to their arsenal.
