Nouveau dictionnaire Francois-Italien
Book Description
4to. Two volumes. Vol 1: pp xx, 650. Vol 2: pp xxiv, 678: full vellum with gold lettered title directly onto spines, marbled edges, original endpapers present. Vellum a little marked, a little worn to head of spine, but overall in good condition. Armorial bookplate Corbet Corbet, with the motto Deus Pascet Corvos [God feeds the Ravens], and book label beneath, partially removed [M]ichael Corbet Adderley. An important dictionary, first published in France, and here printed in Italy for the first time, with an extra forward to the reader and geographical digest in Italian. The Corbets are one of the leading families of Shropshire, with Norman roots, and branches in Italy. Bindings a little marked, but overall a very attractive item in an exactly contemporary binding, and a nice provenance.
