Note: Anthony Burgess was an English writer, who wrote mainly comic novels, although his most famous work was the dystopian satire 'A Clockwork Orange'. In 'On Going to Bed' he explores everything about beds: different types of bed, bed habits, the history of beds, bed as a place to dream and have nightmares, as instrument of fantasy or status symbol. A bed he will argue can be many things and in this study he explores all that it is and can be. A fascinating read.
