There are three versions of the Peter Pan story that J. M. Barrie published, after the character first appeared in the novel The Little White Bird in 1902. The first is Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens, which was issued in 1906, complete with fifty full colour plates by Arthur Rackham. This is the story of Peter Pan having adventures with the Fairies, Pixies and Animals of the Famous London Park. The second book issued was Peter and Wendy, published in 1911, with a decorative title page and twelve full page mono plates by F. D. Bedford. This is the Best known of the three, with Peter and Wendy and the other Darling children visiting Never Never Land and meeting Captain Hook and the Crocodile. The last is Peter Pan; or the Boy who would not grow up, published in 1928. This is actually the first time Barrie's famous Peter Pan play, performed on stage since 1904, was published in book form.
