A lovely copy of a scarce little self-published collection of sketches of trees with human attributes, with a loosely inserted presentation letter from Lady Constance Arbuthnot of Newbury ( Philanthropist & founder of the WW1 Hospital ) describing her relationship to the author, his recent exhibition and the sale of one of the drawings to the Queen. As well as a great tree lover (there is a postscript from Richard St Barbe Baker) Canon Ragg was an Anglican priest with a long and varied career, serving in various roles including Chaplain in Venice and Rome, Rector in Rutland, and Archdeacon of Gibralter He was also the author of Tree Lore in the Bible and editor of The Tree Lover a quarterly magazine of the thirties.
