Dealer Notes
FIRST EDITION; for any rambler with a particular love of Kinder Scout this is a seminal work, the work of a group of local rambling enthusiasts at a time when the Peak District was growing in popularity thanks to the railway. As the anonymous compiler explains, the guide is based upon a slightly earlier one issued by the local association, this present one published at his expense. It marks the beginning of the contentious issues over public footpath rights, the compiler eager to defend, at the same time drawing attention to public desecration of the area; in many ways things have not changed to this day, though as the illustrations demonstrate, the scenery has - somewhat. Very scarce in any condition, this an excellent copy of a sought after guide book..
