Celebrating 50 years of book fairs

Book Description

T Clay, London, 1820 & 1823, second and enlarged edition, frontispiece plate, title page, [2]pp Preface, 38 plates with descriptive text, additional litho plate (Pontycysllte Aqueduct) bound in after Llangollen, together with 3 plates from 'Scenery of South Wales' (Chepstow Castle, Raglan Castle & Scene in the Vale of Usk), each with descriptive text, contemporary buff paper cover boards with a replacement paper spine and label after the original. Some spotting and toning to the pps, the plates generally clean and bright, the boards a little marked and rubbed
Dealer Notes
The 'best' edition of 'Northern Cambrian'. Abbey Scenery 523 calls for 39 plates + 1 additional plate in the second and enlarged edition, as here. Abbey suggests the additional plate may have been a publisher's experiment and only later sets received it. The South Wales title is not in Abbey and is rare, only one incomplete example located
